The Challenge

Mosquito were challenged with rebuilding and improving the Auto Trader iphone app. As ever, we approached the task with creativity and inventive functionality and in so doing Mosquito raised the star rating from 2.5 to 4.5, as well as winning numerous awards and featured in The Sunday Times App List.

We introduced the ability to easily navigate between searches and saved data, improving the benefit to the end user of one intuitive search form. The branding was carefully placed within the app to be discreet and unobtrusive. Our approach was elegant and intuitive and enabled users to easily sort and retrieve their favourite vehicles.

The app was designed to take full advantage of the mobile device’s GPS; allowing a list of favourite searches by current location and proximity. This feature not only accelerated the search process, it also allowed the consumer to use the GPS facility to use saved searches to find cars ‘on the go’; an invaluable tool to find the perfect car near to you at home or when travelling.

A new featured section of the app was implemented to allow consumers to find dealerships rather than vehicles. Using GPS and the entire TMG listings of all UK dealers, the consumer can find the dealer of choice by brand name. In addition we developed a bespoke map to display the proximity of dealers visually.
